The hardest part of playing Magic online is rarely the game itself. It is the waiting: finding an opponent, at your level, in your format, at the hour you actually have free. The MTGBrew game — in development now — is being built around the moment that waiting ends: online 1v1 against real players, with a live players-online counter and player chat around it.
A counter that tells the truth about the room
The announced design includes a live players-online counter, so you can see whether the room is busy before you commit your evening to it. Pair that with the format pick — Commander at 40 life, Regular at 20, Pauper at 20, or Random when you genuinely do not mind — and the shape of a session becomes simple: check the room, pick your format, and play a real person. Player chat sits alongside it as the social layer: the quick hello, the good-game exchange, and the rematch negotiation that turns one match into a rivalry.
While the game is being built, the community is already gathering in the MTGBrew Discord community — the place to find opponents, talk formats, and be first to know how development is going. And the decks you will bring are decks you can build today with the MTGBrew AI deck builder, tested on paper and ready for the day the first online game is yours to join.
Honest status: coming soon, in the works
The MTGBrew game is in development — coming soon, with no launch date announced, and nothing here should be read as a claim that online 1v1, the counter, or player chat are playable today. What is live today is the builder, the MTGBrew card database, and the collection tools at mtgbrew.ai — everything you need to arrive with a deck worth playing.
